| DriveShield does not lock the user out of any part of the laptop/PC's operating system. Users are free to change control panel settings, download files from the Internet, change registry settings, and even format the hard drive. Once the system reboots, it is completely restored to its original configuration. |

| DriveShield relies on a unique password to enable and disable the protection. This password is chosen by the administrator and is known only to them. If someone tries to disable DriveShield with an incorrect password, after the third attempt they will be denied any additional attempts. |
