Quota Server+
Control Your Disk Quota's on Windows 2000/2003 Servers |
| Quota Server+ is a product designed to monitor disk space usage and prevent over-utilisation of storage. The administrator defines how large certain disk objects are allowed to grow, and Quota Server will monitor these objects and enforce the administrative limits. Quota Server+ is now part of the Northern Storage Suite |
| Control Disk Usage |
| For any file, folder, share, or volume on your server you can set a quota that limits the amount of data that can be stored. Quota Server is unique in that you can set different quota types for these objects: |
- An object quota is placed to provide an absolute limit on the amount of data saved, regardless of who saves there.
- A user quota is placed to limit the space to individual users or groups.
- A File Block Quota is placed to restrict the file types stored at a location.
- Quota Server can automatically detect new folders and new users, and apply quotas based on templates that are easily configured.
| As well as limiting disk space usage, Quota Server can automatically perform action at defined milestones. You can set 3 thresholds that will trigger one of the following actions: |
- Send an notification to the User, Group and/or Administrator(s)
- Send an e-mail to the User, Group and/or Administrator(s)
- Run a command-line executable, with context sensitive parameters that have been passed from Quota Server.
- Lock or partially lock the object so that the quota is not further violated.
- All the Notification and E-mail messages are fully customisable, allowing you to provide status information to users and administrators alike.
| Reporting |
| Quota Server delivers the most impressive reporting facilities allowing you provide disk usage summaries for administrators, managers and users and the Management Console can be used to quickly and easily create and maintain reports across the entire enterprise. |
| Quota Server boasts the widest selection of reporting options available: |
- Exporting data to an ODBC-compliant database means that you can store your disk usage data in the database of your choice for use at a later date. Build up usage data to help you with capacity planning.
- Extensive web reporting allows you to publish disk usage data on your Intranet, thus easily sharing information with your entire organisation.
- Reports are easily defined and can be scheduled to run as frequently as you need.
- Over 15 pre-built reports can be automatically created and send to you via e-mail, or directed to a printer, including:
- Files without Owner.
- Files with a specified owner.
- Files not modified since a specified date.
- Files created before a specified date.
- Files not access since a specified date.
- Files by specified file type.
- Volume usage.
| As well as disk usage reports, Quota Server allows you to create reports on quota statistics and disk volume statistics, for example: |
- all locked quotas.
- all people in the Sales group who are over 80% of their quota.
- disk objects that have not been backed-up.
- objects that are bigger than 50 MB.
- files owned by user accounts that no longer exist.
- MP3 files that are present in your network.
- all files that haven't been accessed during the last 52 weeks.
- all shares on a server.
| Management Console |
